About the area
Stirling, in the Adelaide Hills located in the southern Mount Lofty ranges is situated about 14 km east of the Adelaide via the South eastern freeway and Heysen Tunnels. A village from its name sake in Scotland and Edward Stirling which was created when the train line went through to the eastern states & it being a cooler place for the Adelaide Aristocracy to build their summer homes just behind Mount Lofty.
Today the English, tree lined village is a vibrant shopping area, with is many laneways, cafés restaurants & central hotel. The residential area’s surround the village and then branch off into the many delightful townships of the central Adelaide Hills which include Aldgate, Crafers, Bridgewater, Heathfield, Mylor, Piccadilly, Uraidla, Summertown, Verdun & Hahndorf to name a few.
This area is surrounded by and immersed in the World renown Adelaide Hills wine region which produces outstanding cool climate white wine, and access to the Onkaparinga Valley with it’s idyllic townships, B&B’s, bakeries, second hand shops & other tourism industry.
10 minutes further along the freeway is the ever expanding regional township & district of Mount Barker, with it’s main Street steeped in history and all the major shopping, no need to go to the city ! This area is surrounded by the townships of Littlehampton, Nairne & Echunga.
The Adelaide Hills are in a very unique & picturesque location about 1 hour to the Barossa Valley to the north, 1 hour to the South coast & McLaren Vale, 30 minutes to the Murray River in the east & about 40 mins to Adelaide’s Metropolitan beaches to the west.
